First Aid Courses

All of our First aid training courses are through Worksafe Training Systems and are all in line with all current legislation. Our courses are continually modified to keep in line with all of the current legislation and HSE recommendations.

For all of the first Aid training courses the delegates will be provided with refreshments throughout the day. For all of the full day courses a meal will be provided at lunch time. Upon successful completion of the course the delegate will be awarded with a first aid card (if applicable) and a Worksafe Training Systems certificate.

Basic Life Support Half Day

Who should attend?

Anybody wishing to learn the essential life saving skills

What will be covered?

The Basic Life Support (BLS) programme provides students with Basic First Aid skills in line with current UK Resuscitation Council guidance. It is an excellent course to teach members of the public or community basic life saving skills during a short, concise programme that focuses on immediate priorities and effective, simple care that can be performed until professional medical assistance arrives. Basic Life Support focuses on initial, time critical care for life threatening situations including dealing with someone who has stopped breathing, is bleeding severely or has become unconscious. Information will also be presented on the Chain of Survival concept to identify that prompt, effective actions can greatly increase the chance of survival. BLS meets with the recommendations for training an 'Appointed Person' in basic first aid skills as detailed in the HSE Approved Code of Practice L74.

Emergency First Aid at Work One Day

Who should attend?

Anybody wishing to learn emergency first aid procedures for providing first aid in the workplace (low risk)

What will be covered?

The course is approved by the Health & Safety Executive and is delivered in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74 for training candidates in first aid for low risk environments.

The content covers the basic essentials required to provide emergency care to a patient. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:

  • The ability to act safely and effectively when and accident or emergency occurs
  • The treatments and priorities of care for an unconscious patient
  • The recognition and treatment of a person in seizure
  • The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • The ability to recognise and safely treat a patient who is choking
  • That ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding
  • The keeping of simple records following an accident at work

What will be covered?

Emergency First Aid for Carer's is a programme designed to provide the HSE approved EFAW qualification with additional child related resuscitation skills

Who should attend?

Teachers, teaching assistants and anyone who regularly works within a school environment

This course combines the HSE approved EFAW qualification with common child related illnesses.

Who should attend?

Anybody wishing to be a first aider at work

What will be covered?

A health & Safety Executive approved three day course that meets the current Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The course is delivered in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74 for qualifying First Aid personnel in the workplace.
First Aid at Work will provide students with in-depth information and skills on how to provide effective treatment and care to a person, or persons that become ill or injured whilst at work. The programme has a large emphasis on practical application of the skills learnt the ample opportunity is provided for hands-on practice in a relaxed, low stress environment.

Candidates will receive training in a wide range of first aid skills including:

  • The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs
  • The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient
  • The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding

Anybody who currently holds a first aid at work qualification that is due to expire

Paediatric and Early Years  

Who should attend?

Anybody who works or intends to work in the childcare sector

What will be covered?

The Paediatric and Early Years programme has been designed to meet the requirements of OFSTED for Early Years First Aid Provision. Additionally the programme meets with the recommendations of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 issued by the Health and Safety Executive for the ‘Appointed Person’.

Paediatric and Early Years First Aid include resuscitation skills for Adults, Infants and Children. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:

  • The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs
  • The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient
  • The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • The ability of safety and promptly threat a patient who is bleeding
  • Recognition of common childhood complaints and illnesses and appropriate care
  • Developing an effective plan for when emergencies occur
  • The keeping of simple records following and accident in the workplace/care setting.

Automated External Defibrillator One Day

Who should attend?

Ideally candidates will already hold a HSE First Aid at Work certificate but full training in CPR can be given if necessary

What will be covered?

  • An overview of ventricular Fibrillation and the use of defibrillators
  • Emphasis on early intervention, early CPR and the importance of the ‘chain of survival’
  • Lots of hands-on practice for students using the training AED’s
  • Scenario practice sessions tailored to portray similar situations to which students have to respond
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of AED’s
